2010 was a bad year for us as a family. Stuff happened. Bad stuff. For a good part of the year stitching saved my sanity. For another large chunk of the year, I lost my "mojo." Looking at the photos, I did a lot on aida. I hardly ever stitch on aida... weird that last year happened that way...

Stitched on antique white Belfast (32ct) linen. DMC Floss. Kreinik BF. Mill Hill Beads. A bazillion quarter stitches and confetti to the max!

These three squares I'm rather in love with. The patterns are by Connie, the about.com cross stitch guide. The middle piece, is called "Rose Window." She set us a challenge at Superbowl weekend, last year, to stitch the Rose Window. Started with just the chart. Colours were my own choice. Added DMC light effects and Mill Hill Beads. Loved it so much when it was done, that I grabbed two more of Connie's designs and decided to make a tryptich.

This is another of Connie's challenges from last year. Her "Day Complete" Band Sampler. I had the opportunity to try a pile of specialty stitches I'd never done before. It was a lot of fun, especially as several of us were stitching it at once. We all chose different colour schemes. Amazing how changing colours makes it look so different.

This little fairy was stitched for my little five/six year old cousin in NZ. She spent much of last year in hospital, battling a rare and agressive form of bone cancer that is normally only seen in people of advanced age - ie: past 70.
Poor little chicken fought hard, as did her doctors. I stitched this so she could have a pretty little fairy watching over her in hospital. Many months of treatments and many months of prayer later, I am pleased to say she is alive and well. Healthy and whole. The doctors were going to amputate her arm but experimented with cutting out the diseased portion in her arm and grafting bone from her leg in to replace it. So far, so good!
Little fairy is from a Cross Stitch Card Shop magazine. DMC with some Kreinik BF added for a little sparkle. 18 ct white aida.
I took part in a Biscornu exchange last year. Thought I'd try my hand at a "Fifteen." Turned out to be quite easy. I used 32 ct linen, Anchor 1335 "Rainbow" variegated thread and un-named beads I picked up 'cause I though they were pretty. The design was my own. Would like to try another but I'll make it a whole lot smaller!

My Jacob is turning into a read-a-holic just like his Mama. *Insert Huge Happy Dance* I'm a very proud Mama who desperately wanted my kids to love books, so when Jacob requested his very own bookmark, I found this little Tigger bookmark kit that came with an old World of Cross Stitching Magazine. He loves it. It has now graced the pages of the first three Harry Potter books, a heap of "Tashi" stories, the Wizard of Oz, several Deltora books and a host of others that have slipped my mind. Miss Lily has now put in her request for her own bookmark, so that will have to be one of my projects for 2012.
This Ducati is not one of my projects but I have to show it off her. My DH, Guy, stitched this in mid-2010 while we were watching the 2010 MotoGP series. He stitched a matching red helmet too!
